The First DAY of my Trike Book Tour! I started before I was ready. I started before I had the name of this worked out. I just started. Breathe Natalie BREATHE.
Now when I go to get a picture, I come across the original article I had read. And I found I had mis-read it. I “thought” Leo sold his books from the back of his bike. I was wrong. There was a picture of him with a bike. Well now… I shall peddle my books anyway. What a wonderful misunderstanding!
Things I know I still need;
- A banner/flag that says;
- a comfortable bike helmet
- an odometer
This morning I felt an intense push to get out the door and start before I was ready, so I did. I got about 2 blocks away when my water bottle fell out of it’s holder and I turned my trike into the sun. I went back and swapped out my fuzzy brimmed knitted hat to a baseball cap inscribed “Independent Mind” (from Changing Hands Bookstore in Tempe, Arizona). And I got a bungie cord to tie in my water bottle.
I turned back out our driveway and started again. My route was unplanned. My destination; out and back. Preferably, I wanted to take a different route back. I had done 45 minutes on a regular basis on a stationary bike. So, I set the timer on my phone for 30 minutes.
I waved ‘Good Morning’ to the people passing by in cars on 19th Avenue (between Thunderbird and Greenway) and Greenway (between 19th Avenue and 5th Avenue). I hope that is a good beginning for my “Turn Up the Love” direction I got from http://www.tut.com this morning. I sure felt good. One guy got so excited he honked back. SWEET!
I counted things as I went. Here’s what I counted today;
- 3 crossing guards
- 8 Jackrabbits
- 2 helicopters
- 1 airplane
- 11 people wished me, “Good Morning”
- 1 spiky blue ball I found for Woody (see picture)
- 6.14 miles
Ideas I have for a title so far;
- Natalie Starfish Trike Book Tour
- Phoenix Trails Trike Book Tour
- World Trike Tour
- Peddling my behind off to End Illiteracy
- then there are thoughts of why even name it… argh.
What do I blog? What to Tweet? Which part is going on Facebook? Oh boy oh boy!
Bruce and I finished up the street vendor license application with the City of Phoenix. Now we wait. I have to wait to get the license before I can sell the books off my trike.
BTW, I think it is quite interesting I had to pay a fee to get to pay sales tax in Phoenix.
Happy Trails, Natalie Starfish
